Awesome!

Since having kids I have embraced a healthier lifestyle and have definitely paid far more attention to ingredients than I ever did before... along with this natural lifestyle began the interest in homeopathic medicine, natural alternatives to antibiotics and of course eating healthier. It started with breastfeeding, homemade baby food and then with the help of the kids DO we started using natural medicine and seeing the chiropractor. All of which have contributed to the fact that I have not taken an antibiotic since Dec 2003. Considering that I had suffered from chronic sinus infections forever (1 every 3 months) this has been incredible... Even better is how these changes have encouraged other friends to venture into these remedies.
My almost 6 year old has only had 1 ear infection and only been on one antibiotic his whole life :)
A friend of mine has been suffering from sinus problems so I encouraged him to use a sinus rinse and to my shock he actually did it... then at his most recent visit to the doctor/ENT they told him they could tell he had done it and to keep it up!!! My jaw dropped when he told me this... Now I'm gonna get him hooked on the homeopathic sinus infection meds so next time he doesn't need an antibiotic... Funny thing is he took it to work and one of the other guys went out and bought one too! The natural remedies are spreading LOL Oh and by the way... suffer from heartburn or indigestion? try a tablespoon of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar :)

The World Through The Eyes of My 4 year old!

Went on a "nature" trail the other day and Lexi took a few pics... I'm shocked at how well they turned out. Her and Anthony play with the camera all the time and get some pretty good shots but these were awesome....

Yay!

Today was the 2nd time I've gone into Anthony's classroom to volunteer... after last weeks "catastrophe" I figured I should take a different approach this week. Yesterday afternoon and again before Ant went to bed I reminded him that Mommy would be coming into his class to help him and his friends read again... and we proceeded to review the fact that even though I was in the room he still had to pay attention.
I arrived at 9am this morning and much to my surprise I got a quick wave and the general announcement "My Mom is here!" but other than that he was able to keep his attention directed at the front of the classroom :)
I stayed until about 10:30 (recess time) then said my goodbyes... He got a little teary-eyed when he realized I was leaving but I bribed him with the fact that we would do something fun tonight! The school has been reviewing Fire Safety with the kids and one of my best friends works as a professional firefighter so we're gonna go take a look around the firehouse tonight... I'm sure all three of us will learn something... What was that word again? Oh right... apparatus ;) He was so excited at the prospect... Hope he isn't distracted the rest of the day!?!
We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday and the kids got their pumpkins, we plan to decorate them on Thursday so I will probably wait to post those pics at the same time

Classroom Volunteering

So Monday was my first day volunteering in Anthony's class... and well lets just say some things never go quite as one might plan... I arrived to the classroom and was an immediate distraction to Anthony :( The teacher was able to get him back on task (for the most part) but for the whole hour I was there he was continually checking to see where I was and what I was doing... Finally at one point the teacher told him that if Anthony wanted me to keep coming in to read with him and his friends that he would have to pay attention, so that helped some... I guess... So after a hour of one on one reading with various kids in the class it was time for me to leave... Lets just say he wasn't too happy about that either... He asked me to take him home with me :( I of course did the proper parenting "thingy" and told him that he had to stay in school and learn lots of cool stuff so he could come home and tell me everything he learned (and I might've even bribed him with a popsicle or two)
So lets just hope that next Monday goes better than this week... I do have to admit that I love hearing the kids announce "That's Anthony's Mommy!" :)
